What is Invisalign?
Invisalign straightens your teeth without the need for wires and brackets. Instead, it uses a series of clear, customised, and removable aligners. They’re so discreet that hardly anyone will notice you’re even wearing them and because each aligner is custom-made for comfort, you may forget you’re wearing them too!

We’re Invisalign Platinum Providers
Our dentists were the first in South Wales to introduce Invisalign.
As Platinum Providers, the Thornhill Dental Centre team straightens over 80 smiles each year with this revolutionary orthodontic treatment.

Your Invisalign treatment journey
Your new straight smile is just a few steps away when you choose Invisalign at Thornhill Dental Centre. It all starts with a free consultation, where your dentist will give you all the information you need to make an informed decision.
Your free consultation
You’ll meet with either Dr. Koochek or Dr. Gracias. We’ll begin with an examination to check your dental health and then have a friendly chat about your smile goals. If you decide to move forward, we’ll take a detailed scan of your teeth and provide you with a personalised treatment plan on the same day.

Full clinical exam
Next, you’ll come in for a follow-up appointment, known as ClinCheck®, which costs £200. During this visit, we’ll perform a thorough exam and take detailed X-rays to make sure everything is set for your customised treatment plan.

Treatment begins
Invisalign uses advanced technology to create a series of clear aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. You'll wear each aligner for about two weeks before switching to the next one in the series, continuing this process until your treatment is complete.

Is Invisalign right for me?
Invisalign is an excellent choice for both adults and teenagers seeking to straighten their teeth discreetly, without the need for traditional braces with brackets and wires.
The clear aligner treatment can address a range of orthodontic issues, from minor adjustments to more complex cases. It's particularly effective for correcting:

Advanced technology for superior results
Our Thornhill dentists use innovative 3D imaging technology for precise teeth straightening results.
We use an iTero scanner to capture 3D images of your teeth, eliminating the need for messy and uncomfortable dental impressions. The iTero scanner, a handheld device, takes thousands of precise images to create a detailed virtual model of your teeth. This virtual model is then used to plan your Invisalign treatment.

Invisalign frequently asked questions
How often must I wear Invisalign clear aligners?
For optimal results, you should wear your Invisalign clear aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day. This means you should only remove them for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing. Consistent wear is crucial because the aligners need to stay in place to effectively shift your teeth into their new positions.
It’s important to follow this guideline closely, as wearing your aligners as recommended ensures that your treatment progresses as planned and helps you achieve the best possible results in the shortest amount of time.
Are there any restrictions to what I can eat while in treatment?
While you're undergoing Invisalign treatment, there are no specific food restrictions. One of the benefits of Invisalign is that the aligners are removable, so you can take them out while you eat or drink. This means you can enjoy your favourite foods without worrying about damaging your aligners or dealing with food getting stuck in them. However, it's important to remove your aligners before eating or drinking anything other than water. After eating or drinking, make sure to brush and floss your teeth before putting your aligners back in. This helps prevent food particles and bacteria from getting trapped between your teeth and the aligners, which could affect your oral health and the effectiveness of your treatment.
What happens after my treatment is complete? Do I need retainers?
Once your Invisalign treatment is complete and your teeth have reached their desired position, you'll enter the retention phase. Retainers are essential at this stage to keep your teeth from shifting back to their original positions. Your dentist at Thornhill Dental Centre will provide you with custom retainers, which are specifically designed to hold your teeth in place. You’ll need to wear these retainers as directed, which often involves wearing them full-time initially, followed by nighttime wear. The exact duration and schedule will vary depending on your individual case and the recommendation of your dentist
How do I keep my Invisalign aligners clean?
To keep your Invisalign aligners clean, start by rinsing them with lukewarm water each time you remove them. This helps remove saliva and any food particles. Daily cleaning is also important - gently brush your aligners with a soft toothbrush and a clear, unscented soap, avoiding toothpaste as it can be abrasive and scratch the aligners. Additionally, maintaining good oral hygiene by brushing and flossing your teeth before reinserting the aligners helps prevent the buildup of food particles and bacteria. Following these steps will keep your aligners clear and ensure your treatment remains effective.
Is there any discomfort with Invisalign treatment?
During Invisalign treatment, some discomfort is normal, especially when you first start wearing a new set of aligners. This is usually due to the aligners gently shifting your teeth into their new positions. You might experience mild pressure, soreness, or tenderness in your teeth and gums. This discomfort typically subsides after a few days as your mouth adjusts to the aligners. Over the counter pain relievers can help manage any discomfort, and sticking to a soft food diet during the adjustment period can make eating more comfortable. If the discomfort is severe or persistent, or if you experience any issues like sharp edges or fit problems with your aligners, it’s important to contact us.
